Scientific in ancient Egypt

Ancient Egypt is one of the earliest civilizations to have left written, pictorial, and archaeological records of its culture, including medicine, mathematics, and astronomy.

The continuation of life among the ancient Egyptians in the Otherworld was closely related to the preservation of the body, which supported the entity of the soul so Mummification methods varied in Аncient Egypt.

The Egyptians devised their highly accurate solar calendar by recording the yearly reappearance of Sirius star (the Dog Star) in the eastern sky. When Sirius rose, it coincided with the yearly flooding of the Nile River

The Egyptian inscriptions from the era of the Old Kingdom indicate that there were doctors of every kind in different grades in Egypt.

The ancient Egyptians practiced medicine with highly professional methods. They had advanced knowledge of anatomy and surgery. Also, they treated a lot of diseases including dental, gynecological, gastrointestinal, and urinary disorders. They could diagnose diabetes and cancer. The used therapeutics extended from different plants to include several animal products and minerals. Some of these plants are still used in the present day.

Scientific research indicates that ancient Egyptians were skilled in applied sciences and in technical matters. In any case, we see that the social situation in the Nile Valley has necessitated the emergence of a general fixed system of standards.

From at least the Early Dynastic period, units of length existed. The ancient Egyptians used measurement units based on various parts of the human body as cubits, palms and fingers.

In the “Palermo stone” (dated to 2494–2345 BC) the height of the Nile was recorded as 6 cubits and 1 palm (about 3.217 m or 10 ft 6.7 in). It also mentions grants of land expressed in terms of kha (=1000 cubits or 275.65 m2) and setat (= 10,000 cubits or 2,756.5 m2).

The Egyptians did not know money in the sense known to us until the Persian era. Trade was carried out only on the basis of exchange of different products. However, some units of measurement based on gold, silver, copper or grain were known.
